3 Automation Truths

I read an very interesting article with the title “The key to successful automation is using it wisely” and I want to use it as todays talking point on this #TalkingTuesday.

I am often asked about things that people can interject in a conversation in hopes of joining in and either adding value or taking some value away with them. Well this article on automation is a perfect conversation starter because of the interesting value it holds in all our lives. There were three main interest points that I enjoyed and I am going to turn them into business ideas that you can utilize in growing your business while gaining topics for future discussions when you’re in your mental engagement mode.

The first point of interest for you to consider in the business sense is that automation can save so much money and time for your company. For instance, nowadays so many people have started online businesses and with technology at heightened levels, automation has allowed people who would otherwise never have been able to afford and start a new business, not only to start that business but run it efficiently and with the same capabilities as larger companies that have been around for years. As a very small example, technology has allowed you to automatically collect emails from people visiting your website. You then you just login to your email account once a day, once a week or even once a month, write up a sales letter and tell your program what day, what time and how often to send that sales letter out to all these people who have automatically opted in to receive electronic information from you. The automation has allowed you to save money on having a full time employee to constantly search for email participants and or new customers and it has lessoned the need for other employees to keep track and monitor email correspondence etc. With a few clicks, the automation process can even collect and sometimes even fulfill orders for you. This automation is efficient as well as cost saving in that you can hire one employee rather than two or three and have that employee help with other aspects of your business which in turn helps your business grow and prosper through increased efficiency. This type of automation helps you utilize minimal people in more efficient and less wasteful and tedious ways.

The second point of interest with automation is that it effectively and with great accuracy test the market for you. With automated email blast, social media posts and automated vlogs and or blogs, you can do product testing in bulk and almost instantaneously receive feedback where in the past this process could have taken you an endless amount of employees and weeks if not months of gathering and analyzing data that was collected and worse, having employees, with their own bias, make crucial decisions for your business rather than have a computer with fixed algorithms make decision based on facts.

The last and in my opinion the best part of automation is the fact that it can enhance customer experience. Business personnel as well as consumers don’t always want to deal with another person and when this happens, there is always a bad situation that ensues and possibly the ultimate cost which is the loss of a current sale and probably the loss of a future sale as well. We as people nowadays, are always in such a rush and have very little time to spare so when it comes to automated customer service, this allows the consumer to deal with an issue quickly through prompts or if they want to be longer winded, through an email without having to have human to human interaction. Most automated customer service portals have greetings that are enjoyable and with “Bots” today, they can even assist you the same if not more efficiently than a human.

The takeaway from this automation blog is not that automation is taking jobs away from people which was the point of the article. The takeaway in my opinion and with my twist, is that automation immensely helps humans to be more efficient, more cost effective and more in tune with the clientele they seek. It’s a very debatable issue which is why it is a perfect topic for a Talking Tuesday but it is also my advice to all the people in my Lori’s Loop group to take advantage and utilize automation to the benefit of your business so that it can assist you with further growth and success.

Never forget that as Warren Buffet says, the more you learn, the more you earn so here is the book I have chosen for you to read. It’s called Automate Your Routines Guarantee Your Results. It hilariously discusses automating yourself which in my opinion will prepare you for more advanced automating of your business. I’m sure your library has it and if not, ask your friends to borrow it. As I usually state, if neither of those options are available to you, I have a link for Amazon who sells it for just a few dollars so that you can get a copy>> https://amzn.to/31UzcFw

If you choose to shop in Amazon, I would greatly appreciate it if you could use the link I have provided. As an Amazon Affiliate, it is possible I can earn a bonus and therefore continue to provide continued content we all enjoy. Thank you in advance!

5 Giant Strategies for Success

Whether you have realized it yet or not, there is a strategic plan all entrepreneurs and business owners should follow. For the most part, it’s not a one size fits all prospect but it is a crucial component to success. On this #MammothMonday I am going to give you five main points to implement in whatever plan you develop for your business.

First and foremost, there is the aspect of personal experience. People want to feel as if they are doing business with you because you are catering to them and only them. They want to feel as if they came across you and suddenly it was their aha moment. I am not saying that they have a conscious realization of this but they do have that feeling. You know it’s like when people say to you to trust your first instinct. Well the same goes for business. A person knows almost instinctively if they are comfortable with you so make that experience a personal one. I need to impress upon you that the only way that this is going to work is if you are true to your own mission and purpose. You cannot try to get everyone to want you. Stay focused on your purpose and those who are on the same page as you will be the ones who get that personal experience feeling. These are the people who will become your client’s and or customer’s and more than likely be repeat and lifelong clientele as well as a mouth piece to people they know which will inevitably be free advertising. On the other hand, for those who are just “window shopping”, whether you are selling a product or a service, they may cross over to your side when they begin to see the consistency you seem to provide and when they see that you fulfill the needs of those that seek you out. Don’t kid yourself though, people who are not yet your clients or customers will know instinctively if you are providing a positive service or if you’re just trying to make that sale. So how do you give this personal experience? Well, the short answer is that you do it through lots of engagement. Whether it is through a beautiful website that is always up to date and consistent with your mission and or purpose or through an easy to navigate store that attracts the eyes and buying power of the customer base you cater to. There are so many ways to engage but that is the short answer to something that is a lifetime of work and implementation.

The second strategic plan for success in my opinion is inclusivity. You have to include your clients and or customers in your dream. What do I mean by this? Well the next short answer is that for instance, if you are creating a new online course, send out email blasts and or hold a contest or a giveaway asking your clients or customers to be part of the creation by submitting their ideas. Even have a prize for the best idea submitted. This has a three fold effect. First of all, it lets people feel as though they have a voice and therefore their loyalty deepens. Secondly, the ideas submitted are a major treasure chest of ideas from people who are loyal to you and can help you develop many more products or add to services you currently provide. Finally, when you see what it is that a majority of people want then, you can cement your branding and therefore create an excitement when people see something that is recognizable to them. You know, think of Sam Walton and the Walmart sign. There is nothing special or spectacular about the Walmart sign. It doesn’t even tell you what Walmart is. However, as soon as you see that sign, you know what is being sold there. You know the price level that is in the store. You know how the setup of each store is and the ease of navigating the aisles. You even know the uniform apron that the employees wear. More importantly, you know the comfort level that you feel when you see the sign and it brings you a sense of calm because you know what to expect.

My third strategic business move is having strong leadership. This may sound a little weird but you need to create a booklet. In the booklet, you need to have a plan written down. Something tangible. More of a code of conduct. A booklet that is handed out to every new employee. Everyone needs to be on the same page as you if you want to be successful. Make sure your employees understand where your principles lie and what your core values are. If everyone is on the same page and everyone knows what to expect than it is a plan for success. However, don’t get delusional thinking that because you have this in writing that everyone will fit into your perfect idea of the ideal employee but you will over time develop a team that will be a dream for your business. There is never perfection anywhere but what this type of preparation offers is that you will have a lot less employee turnover and you will have people who believe in what you are doing and therefore make your implementing of a successful business that much more easier with a lot less drama.

My forth strategic idea for success is originality. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel but if you want to last and be successful, you have to have things that are original to you. Don’t blend in with everyone else because then you will not grow and therefore become the victim of stagnancy. Here is a quick example. You decide you want to run an ice cream store. You’re not going to be very successful if you are selling vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream. However, maybe you sell vanilla ice cream with fresh vanilla beans and your choice of fresh chopped fresh baked cookies mixed in. Or, maybe you sell strawberry ice cream with fresh organic strawberries chopped and mixed in topped with homemade whipped cream. Or., you’re chocolate ice cream has fresh shaved Brazilian cacao beans. Just be slightly different with originality. It will make you stand out from the crowd. By the way, this is where the plan from above about polling your customers comes in. See what the masses suggest and desire to help you create something original. Remember one thing, originality brings you customer and or client retention.

Finally, my fifth strategic plan for a successful business, is your company culture. In my experience, the best way to have a great company culture is to bring your employees together. Never let anyone feel as though they are being looked down upon by their peers who have a better position than they do. Give every employee their own workload however, make sure they aren’t told to report to their “boss”. Have a work culture where people are told weekly or monthly or even project wise that for this specific work item, I want “Susie” to collect all finished aspects of this job. Next week we will discuss who will collect the work for the next project. Something along these lines. The main point to take away from this plan is that you need to make your employees feel as though they are working as a team and not as a grunt for the company. This type of culture brings people together rather than pulling people apart and therefore you have a more cohesive environment which lends itself to greater production and by extension a more profitable and successful business.

To recap, five really giant strategies for a strong and successful business is personal experience, inclusivity, strong leadership, originality and company culture. Therefore, even though there may be thousands of ideas to create a great company, these are my five favorite plans. Also, the best way to make this work is to simply have a clear vision. If you know what you want and you know what you are doing, then you can learn, grow and prosper with your business.

I am always trying to instill in you the importance of constantly learning and I have in the past suggested specific reading material that I find very informative. Today I am once again going to suggest that you read the book Made in America by Sam Walton. I think every library in America probably has this book that you can borrow and like always, if you can’t get to your library then ask a friend if they have a copy. If neither option is doable, Amazon has it for a few dollars and here is the link>> https://amzn.to/2MNUUFC

Stop bitching

I have a Saturday blog for you today because it’s what’s on my mind and I know it is infesting the population.

I have come across this problem endlessly and I just ignore it and move on however, this week alone, this issue has reared it’s ugly head more times than I can count. Today I came across a picture or meme or whatever you want to call it and it was put out by Gary Vaynerchuk that summed up the problem completely. To me, it is another version of my power of 10 that I will try to instill in people as well as to use it as my own mantra. Gary’s version has some risqué language so I’m going to use my own version but still give him the credit for the simplicity he turned it into. Ten markings on a picture as I see it. Ten things for you to write down. Ten things for you to say to yourself. Or, ten things you will die by because if and when you screw up, instead of blaming the person staring back at you in the mirror, you choose to blame every Tom, Dick and Harry that you can. What are these markings, words, mantras or whatever you want to brandish them by? Here is what you need to know, feel and live by: If you’re 100% in charge of your life stop bitching.

That’s right. Are you an adult? If you can answer yes than I have some exciting news for you. YOU are 100% in charge of YOUR life. If you are a grown ass adult who has the ability to sit and complain about everything that has gone wrong in your life from the time you took your first breath than, you and only you are responsible for changing your life into something that you want it to be. Stop saying that the person driving a Mercedes was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. If you want the Mercedes, get a job, save money and buy one. Stop saying that the girl at work was born with genes that keeps her slim. If you want to be slim, get off your ass, get to a gym and eat healthy. If you’re friends have siblings and you grew up alone, go out and meet more people to hang out with. Form close relationships. You don’t have to be blood to be family. Yes, these are real issues I heard just this week alone.

I totally understand and get that many things are easier said than done HOWEVER, just because you can’t or won’t accomplish something doesn’t mean you have to bitch about it.

I am going to end on this note. It is a known fact that if you bring misery into your brain and you consistently speak miserably, you train yourself to become a miserable person. I am by no means telling you to skip around singing. I am telling you that bitching is just a sassy way of showing your jealousy and your envy and even your own personal low self esteem and or low self worth. Learn to be grateful for who you are and for what you have and just move on with your own life.

Do you need a little help and or motivation? Go to your library and read The Greatest You. Everyone needs a helping hand, even with life, so read this book. If your library does not have it then ask a friend if you could borrow it. If neither option works for you then get yourself a copy from Amazon. Here is a link to the book>> https://amzn.to/32Z9Rvv

The budget debacLe

Oh how the mighty have tried and failed way too many times. On this #FundMeFriday I’m going to give you a quick and simple formula to follow so that you can better budget your money and therefore live a financially healthy lifestyle.

Here is a perfect budget for you to follow. I had posted in a previous blog something similar but I read about these percentages on NerdWallet and I really like them. Just remember 50/30/20 (obviously totals 100%). What do I mean by this? Let’s start with the 50. Fifty percent of all your earnings should be devoted to your essential life necessities. What are necessities? Well in a very generalized sense, it is your rent or mortgage, your utilities, your food, health insurance etc. Keeping in mind though that at times you may not spend 50% on the necessities but that doesn’t give you free reign to spend whatever is left over. Why not? The reason is because there will be times when maybe a utility bill is very high for over usage and rather than dip into savings, you will have a cushion from previous leftovers.

Now for the thirty percent. This is the percentage you’re going to love. Thirty percent of all your earning go toward your wants. What are considered wants? This is the percent of your earnings that you can spend on anything you want regardless of the level of frivolousness. I know this sounds intriguing but this is also the percentage that can get you into serious financial trouble. This is the percentage where people always try and make exceptions like, “I’m only over by $25. I’ll replace it next week”. No! If you run out of money from your wants percentage for that pay period, than you’re out of money. End of story. This is where you are either serious about financial freedom or you’re not. If you’re not going to stick to it than don’t bother wasting your time at all.

The last percentage is the twenty percent portion. I saved this for last because it’s the most important however, it is the first percentage you are going to take out of each earnings check. This is the savings percentage. This is the percentage that will one day metaphysically save your life. This is the percentage that gets socked away in your secret, non touchable savings account. You cut yourself a check for this twenty percent before you even buy a container of milk. If you are capable enough to work than there is nothing that can’t wait. Figure it out and just cut the check to your savings account with no excuses and with no regrets. It’s the biggest most important thing you can do for your life and for your future. That said, have you paid yourself today????

So to sum up very simply, your budget should be 50/30/20 which equates to necessities/wants/savings. I am realistic that most people hear the word budget and automatically their brain goes into lockdown feeling as if they are being punished. It’s up to you and only you to grow up and get past that feeling. If it makes it easier for you by playing a mental game with it then rename it. Instead of calling it your budget, call it your Financial House that has three stories. Or call it something of millions of other choices available to you. Just as long as you begin this financial journey.

You know what’s coming next right? I have a great book for you called Money Management. I am always recommending books because it is crucial that you continue to mentally grow and learn so please make sure you read as much as possible. All the books like this one should be available in your local library or you can possibly borrow a copy from a friend. If neither option is available to you, I will always have a link to the book on Amazon. Here is the link for today’s book if you need it>> https://amzn.to/2NdxTMp

DuMp The Trash….Talk

It’s #TrashItThursday and for today’s business lesson, I’m going to discuss dumping the trash talk and how if you don’t, it can and will negatively impact your business.

We all have an experience where we spoke badly about someone and then we came face to face with that person only to feel that pit deep in our stomach. That pit was felt for one of two reasons. We either felt terrible for what we said and were now mortified that they found out only to now be in their presence or, we can’t stand that person, we don’t care what we said about them but we are uncomfortable being around them. In either scenario, the only person feeling badly is you, the one that did the trash talking.

This can be a serious problem in business. If you speak badly about someone and they find out, the fact that you feel badly will not change the more pertinent fact that you probably lost a customer or client not to mention whomever they tell about it. If on the flip side you dislike the person and could care less if they ever purchase from you again, this is not the issue. Once again, that one person will take your vile comment and tell it to any listening ear. As we all know, when someone is telling a story, that story has a tendency to warp into something different and at this point your business is the direct recipient of disaster. Your inability to refrain from trash talking can cause you endless loss in revenue and your bad attitude will spread like a wild fire.

Here’s a quick example of why you should never trash talk. This actually happened to a client of mine. What you should keep in mind when reading this is that the business owner actually liked his employee but really wanting and needing this other guy to help him run his business he wrongly assumed he should trash talk someone to “break the ice”. So what happened was that this business owner needed a new manager to help run his business and he was able to land an interview with a highly sought after candidate. During the interview he discussed why he wasn’t hiring from within. Rather than tell this candidate that there wasn’t anyone who was really capable in the company to do this specific job, he decided to tell this candidate who he did not know personally how the guy “Mike” running things now is an idiot and who is fat because he has no self control amongst other things. Well, it turns out that “Mike” is the one who recommended this candidate and is actually friends with this candidate outside of work. What happens next is that they both discuss what was said at the interview and this business owner ended up not only losing two perfect people that his business desperately needed, he also now has two people plus their friends bad mouthing him and his company. His trash talk has made him a two time loser in this scenario.

This example that I just gave you is not by any means a rare occurrence, on the contrary, it happens everywhere and every day. If you only take one thing away from today’s posting, take this, a listening ear is attached to a wagging tongue. Remember what I am almost positive you have heard throughout your entire life and that is, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. There’s a reason this saying has been around for many lifetimes. Think about it.

Boy oh boy do I have the perfect book for you to read. It’s called The Power of Nice. Please read this. You will prosper in business as well as in life. I’m sure your library has it. If not ask your friends if you can borrow it from one of them who may have it. If neither of these options are available to you, here is a link to get it from Amazon>> https://amzn.to/2BFlT0T

3 Wise Facts For Success

On this #WisdomWednesday I chose three ideas that you should know, implement and follow without having to think about it.

First of all, customer service matters. It is unreal how many business owners feel that they don’t need to provide any extra customer service once they make a sale. Just because you’re in business does not mean that you’re not dealing with humans. People want to feel like they matter whether it is in a personal relationship or whether they are spending their money to buy goods or services. Here are a couple of statistics to bring reality to the forefront of your business. Statistic one is that more than 50% of consumers have stated that they have not repurchased from a company who had bad customer service. How many millions of dollars are lost just because you don’t cater to someone handing you their money? The second and an even worse statistic is that more than 60% of consumers have confirmed that they posted bad reviews after receiving bad customer service. In an error where the world is locked in to social media, these postings will kill your business solely because you view your customer as a sale rather than as a new member of your circle. If you want to be successful than you need to make customer service an extension of who you are and not an afterthought of a sale. Yes, if you want someone to hand over their hard earned money to you then, you need to learn the art of taking care of people. Keeping in mind that people will know if you are being sincere or just a kiss ass.

The second idea that should be part of who you are and not an afterthought is personalization. I’m not talking about selling items with peoples names all over them. I am talking about personalizing a consumer’s experience. As a simple example, when sending out an email offering your previous consumer a sale or a promotional item or even just a newsletter, don’t send it out as a blank or generalized “Hello Sir or Madam”. When you have any contact with an consumer, you address them by their name. You would be surprised what a mental stimulant it is when someone is referred to by their actual name rather than by a generic label. This personalization should become second nature to you.

My third idea which should be a part of who you are rather than what you do is to keep it fresh. You don’t want anything old or expired in your life and neither do your consumers. As a small example, everyone offers the infamous 10% off so you should offer 9% or 11% off, something different. Make them wonder why. They will assume that they are getting the best deal possible because the percentage is not generic. Be creative and come up with all different kinds of plans that work well with your business. Just keep it fresh and once again differentiate yourself from your competitors.

So on this #WisdomWednesday, it’s so important that you know things rather than learn things. In other words, use common sense and put your how to manual to rest sometimes. In order to be a success, you must love your business and what you are doing. When you love something you don’t have to learn how to love it, you just do and you spend your life nurturing it Nurture your business and don’t take it for granted if you want it to thrive and to be a success.

A cute read called Boss Mom is written as if you’re “raising” your business. You will understand in a more fun way what I am saying so borrow it from your library or a friend and read it. If you can’t borrow it, here is a link to get it from Amazon >> https://amzn.to/32Eytcv

The 3 Powers of Scarcity

Today on #TalkingTuesday, we are going to learn a powerful business lesson about scarcity and how your business can thrive if you learn the three powers involved.

The world can only deal with scarcity in three ways and three ways only. This blog is not meant to be an economics course but it is important to understand some basics for the sake of growing and thriving in your own business. I am going to give you an extremely basic and quick lesson on scarcity and here we go. The three ways to deal with scarcity are as follows. The first way is through growing the economy. So to explain this simply, it means having the ability to produce plenty of goods and or services. It’s as simple as it sounds, just keep producing what people want and produce it in abundance. That’s as simplistic as I can get with this first way of dealing with scarcity.

The second way of dealing with scarcity is for people to reduce their wanting of something. This one appears simple enough but it is actually hard for people. It’s hard because we have become a nation and a world of everyone constantly saying, “I want that and I want this”. So, reducing your “wants” is the second way of reducing scarcity. Simply put, the less you want the less is needed and therefore the less the chances are of running out of a product or service and thereby causing scarcity.

The third and final way of dealing with scarcity is to use your existing resources wisely while keeping the old adage in mind of waste not want not. The three most important ways of doing this that I would like to emphasize regarding using existing resources are first be efficient with productivity. For example, do everything in your power to minimize cost. This will allow you to produce more and thereby reduce scarcity. Secondly, be efficient with your allocation of your goods and services. For example, create a good mixture of goods and services. Create more of what people seem to want more of and therefore you will create less of what people seem to bypass and therefore you will be creating less scarcity. Finally, my third pick would be to have full employment. Full employment doesn’t just mean people working it also means using all factories and all farmland and even all the mines. This allows all who are working to use all that is available and therefore waste less.

So why this economics lesson on #TalkingTuesday? The answer is simple. I want you to take this one day per week and go out there and talk to everyone who you can engage in conversation. Find out what they want. Find out what they love and what they hate. Find out where their favorite place is to spend their money. Find out how much they typically spend on their wants. So what do you do with this information? You take this information and you grow your business. You try and create scarcity in your niche. Make people feel they need you and make them feel that they need whatever it is you are selling. More importantly, be different so that they feel that you have what nobody else can give them. You have to separate yourself from the pack and the more questions you ask people the more ammunition you will amass for your own purposes.

A quick example on differentiating yourself would be something like you and a competitor bake cupcakes but unlike your competitor, your cupcakes have hidden surprises inside of them. Now you have differentiated yourself enough so that people come to you because they can’t find anybody else who does the same.

Are you understanding why it’s important to know about scarcity? Make people want you and make them need you. With scarcity you can accomplish this enough so that you propel yourself ahead of your competition.

The millionaire is not next doOr

According to a Credit Suisse report. there are approximately 36 million millionaires worldwide and these millionaires make up less than 1% of the world population yet they collectively hold 46% of the worlds wealth. On this #MammothMonday I am going to tell you about this phenomenon and what you can do to become part of this statistic.

First of all, I need to drive one fact home that I stated above and that is that 46% of all the wealth in the entire world is held by less than 1% of the worlds population. Do you understand the magnitude of that statement? I am going to tell you what that means just in case it’s not hitting home. That statement in the most simplistic of an explanation means that 1% of the world’s population employs 99% of the working world population.

So here is my advice to all who constantly ask me how they can become millionaires….. become an entrepreneur. Yes it’s that simple. It’s Mammoth Monday. Go out and do something huge like becoming an entrepreneur. If your mindset is in the right place then you’re starting to feel excited right about now. If on the other hand you’re from the old school of thought than all you’re thinking about right now is that you would never contemplate leaving your “secure” “job” and risk losing whatever it is you feel you have “secured” from your employment. The millionaire does not live next door but the millionaire could be living right in your own home. The question is whether or not you want that title bad enough. Are you the type of person who just dreams about it or are you the type of person who wants to spend their life living the dream? Only you can answer that question and that answer is only going to come in two forms, an excuse why you can’t or a reason why you can.

Here is the biggest advice I can give you on this day, STOP saying to yourself that you can’t come up with a million dollar idea. I am here to tell you that it does not take a million dollar idea. What it takes is something that you love and that you are dedicated to then, you have to work at it. There is no such thing as getting rich quick but if you work at building your dream, it will flourish. Keep in mind also that there is a big difference in working a 16 hour day building someone else’s dream and working a 16 hour day building your dream. There’s a great book I would like you to get from your library. It’s called The 4 Hour Workweek. It really touches on ideas and concepts that you probably haven’t even thought about concerning working for yourself with some eye opening ideas you can use immediately. If it isn’t available at your library, here is an Amazon link to the book>> https://amzn.to/2P9rCUw
