It is #TalkingTuesday so today I am focusing on recommendations and referrals. The task of asking for either one or both of these will require plenty of networking and chatting people up on your part. Take this one day of the week and begin to hone your speaking skills.
You’re probably wondering where you should start and the answer is a quick and easy, ask your current customers to refer friends or family to you. Whether you ask them face to face or shoot them a quick email or text message, just ask. Also, if they don’t acknowledge or refer someone to you on your first ask, don’t stop there. Continue to always engage and ask your current customers to recommend or refer people to you. It really is that simple, you just have to ask.
Another great way to get recommendations and referrals is to have great customer service. On this Talking Tuesday, make this day about calling every person you can and ask them a simple question like, “Was there anything that we could have done to better assist you”? Regardless of the answer, you will be engaging your customers by either making them feel great by personalizing their experience or, if something was wrong, it allows you to rectify the problem while making them feel like they matter. Both of these instances will surely help spread the word of your business and it’s one on one caring nature and therefore, inadvertently send recommendations and referrals your way. So make those calls and chat with your customers.
Another idea for acquiring those recommendations and referrals is to target those “window shoppers”. They may not become customers because they are only looking but by chatting them up, you can thank them for looking and ask them if they have a friend who might like what they were looking at or if they had a friend who might be interested in your service.
There are many more ways of getting out there and chatting your business up but these three ideas really are my top picks. The main point though is to get those lips flapping and use this #TalkingTuesday to be your reminder of how important it is to engage people.
Mid you need a little help and encouragement, there is a great book you can read. The title is How To Win Friends and Influence People. Get it from the library and read this little wonder. If you would rather get it at Amazon, here is a quick link to the book>> https://amzn.to/2niAFaq
